How much does the Sidemount course cost?
The Sidemount Diver Course is $480. This includes eLearning, two days of in-water training with an experienced instructor, and your internationally recognized digital certification.
The course includes self-paced eLearning, followed by two days of in-water training with your instructor. During those two days, you’ll complete four open water dives.
The Sidemount course teaches you how to dive with tanks mounted on your sides instead of your back. It offers better trim and buoyancy, improves streamlining, and increases comfort—especially for longer dives, tight spaces, or people with back issues.
If you’re planning to take advanced technical courses like the TDI Advanced Sidemount, TDI Cavern Diver, or TDI Intro to Cave, the Sidemount Diver certification is typically a prerequisite.
Both setups offer redundancy and extended gas supply, but sidemount gives you more flexibility, easier tank management, and better access to valves. It’s especially useful in overhead environments and can feel more streamlined and balanced in the water.
Yes, if you plan to take cave diving courses in sidemount configuration, you’ll need to complete the Sidemount Diver course first. It ensures you’re comfortable with the equipment setup and gas management before progressing into overhead environments.
Sidemount isn’t just for cave diving — it’s a great option for recreational divers too. It offers better trim, easier access to valves, and more comfort, especially on longer dives. Many divers choose sidemount for its flexibility and streamlined setup, even on open water dives.
